Paper and pens

What GSM, nib and adhesive actually mean here

Most stationery disappointment comes from a mismatch between paper and pen. Four points cover it.

  1. Paper weight is given in GSM. Below about 80 GSM most gel and fountain inks show through; above 100 GSM they generally do not.
  2. Nib size is a width, not a quality. A 0.5 mm nib writes finer than a 0.7 mm one - neither is better, they suit different paper.
  3. Washi tape lifts; glue does not. Use washi where you may want to reposition, adhesive where the layout is final.
  4. Cutting tools are sold with a blade type. Check the replacement blade the page lists before assuming a spare you own will fit.
